Gem Lake

You are here. Joe is there.

Joe and I conquer our first rock.

It doesn't look like much, but getting on top of this rock took a bit more effort than I thought would be needed.

Joe ollies a log.

Mom, Dad and Joe take in their first good view of the
surrounding mountain range.

Mom and Dad.

Joe and I walk off the beaten path and find a nice little overlook.

I scamper my way up a few boulders.

Woo-hoo!

Gem Lake was frozen over this time of year.

Charles took the opportunity to walk on water.

Ansorges assemble!!

The rock wall at the end of the frozen lake was too tempting not to climb.

It's a pretty nice view from the top.

Top of the world, bro!

Mom's voice comes from somewhere below.

Zoom, and enhance.

We screw around on the ice for a bit.

SAFE!

Joe showcases a number of rocks he picked up along the way.

And back down from whence we came.

Posers.

Hikers.

Wildlife spotting!

This little guy wasn't shy at all.

The boot.

Joe must have switched on "big head mode" on my camera when he took this shot.

The sun begins to set on our way down.

I take another look at my perch.

We pass the MacGregor Ranch on our way back.

Elk graze the moraine at sunset.

I think all the rushing water made Joe want to pee or something.

Much has changed since Gretchen and Kate worked here.

Old photos of Kate and Elsa during their housekeeping days at the Y.

Group shot! Both families in front of our cozy cabin!
