A day trip to the Grand Canyon.

The drive from Sedona to the South Rim took a few hours but the open road offered some nice views.

And at long last, the Grand Canyon!

We took in some incredible views from various spots along the South rim.

I could sit here for hours just staring into that canyon.

Some spots along the rim offered peeks at the Colorado River.

A hike into the Canyon

Into the canyon we go.

It's a long way to the bottom and the snow kept our pace slow and steady.

An endless series of switchbacks gave us plenty of time to admire the scenery.

It's quite a different experience to be surrounded by the canyon walls and not just looking down into them.

We'd hiked down for 2 to 3 hours before considering when to turn around.

This spot is as far as we decided to go.

I think we made it maybe a quarter of the way down.

Nonetheless, a grand view from our perch.

Group shot!

... and time to hike back up.

An incredible hike, and perhaps one day we'll make it to the bottom!

We stoped at a lookout and a few more spots along the rim before heading back to Sedona.

We took in a few last looks from the tower and elsewhere before heading back to Sedona.

Farewell Grand Canyon, I'll see you next time!
